[Text] I give up
I have been far too busy to keep up with the local holidays and now Mojito tells me I'm going to commit a massive social faux pas if I turn up for whatever you people call Midwinter without gifts.
I'm far too busy with preparations to be bothered trying to think my way through this.
Just tell me what you want

[Obviously, that didn't sound like Red.]
Re: [text] 1/2
Ugh. It's a complete pain and I am far too busy to be dealing with this right now but what am i supposed to do? Insult the scant few alliances I've managed to forge since I arrived on this godsforsaken rock which has NO PRINTERS AVAILABLE IN YUN'ASHIA ON SHORT NOTICE
Re: [text] 2/2
what does red like
[text]
that said, i might be able to help anyway. i'm a participant in an underground dominoes league, and one of my teammates is a calligrapher operating out of an artist's commune in hisan. i'll pass your name along to him. he's got a two-month waiting list otherwise.
as for red, i do know one thing he's after.
apparently they made a rookie trading card for him when he was first signed on to the dragons. he hasn't stopped trying to get his hands on one ever since he first heard about it. unfortunately, since he's been the dragons' rising star, they're becoming increasingly hard to find.
Re: [text]
What I require is quanity, numerous copies of something produced and preferably bound
Also, trading cards. And here I thought I was quit of them. Very well, I'm sure it can't be too difficult to find one, but then I thought that about the godsdamned oglop cards
[text]
do you play tetra master?
Re: [text]
how the hell do you know about tetra master
anyway no, I don't, but oglop cards became very high in demand after a well-publicized young lady from Lindblum won several tournaments with an oglop-only deck and I attempted to corner the market
I worked my tail off trying to find as many of them as I possibly could and then the printers released a commemorative run of six-path oglops the day I put them on the market
[text]
if you can't find red's rookie card, i'm sure you could just give him a basket full of some sort of meat or another and he'd be wagging for days.

No, but seriously, you're overthinking things. Midwinter's not about putting up appearances. It's a reminder to care about people you care about, to show that you think of them and hold their memories dearly. If people are shallow, the gift-giving bit about it is just demonstrating that you can give financial support, which is how this whole thing became a unstoppable torrent of bad decisions in the first place.
But if you actually care about them, and they about you, then you already know what they might need, and it doesn't need to be expensive because it actually is the thought that counts.
Although you need a haircut.

[Yes, just going to neatly sidestep that highly uncomfortable topic.]

Although I would at least ask that you switch out your shampoo. Something that uses tea leaf oil should keep split ends from forming. And it would be a nice change of pace from sandalwood.

What do you want for Midwinter.

Your gift is already in the post. Merry Midwinter.
text
...alright, look, i'll help you out. who are you getting presents for?
Re: text
One or two people
Mojito refuses to tell me who is actually buying anything or what sort of budget is appropriate so I'm having to err on the side of caution here I don't actually know what I'm doing the only gift-giving rituals I'm familiar with is passive-agressive one-upmanship among nobility and I highly doubt a contest to determine who is capable of offering the most inconvenient present without actually being rude would be appreciated

that
is deffo a bad idea. second, here's some tips: go for something sentimental first. spirit of christmas/starlight/whatever and all of that. think of something that's important between the two of you embodies your relationship yadda yadda yadda
but that's advanced gift giving so only do that if you know for sure you won't f screw it up. failing that just get something useful that they know they need. job gear works as a last resort, just get some awesome equipment if you're out of ideas. the apocalypse is coming in just a few months, i'm pretty sure everyone would appreciate some sweet new gear.

Re: [Text]
But, alas, the coffers of my social capital are running a bit dry of late and it always pays to maintain a network of socially-connected acquaintances. You never know when a favor may come in handy.
Re: [Text]
Perhaps, though I hardly think favors are going to solve our predicament here.

I could do it, if you don't want to.
I suppose it is a strange tradition if you aren't used to it. But it's surprisingly similar to Weihnachten from my world.

Re: text
Re: text
I don't honestly know. This isn't something I spend much time thinking about.
text
Well, anyway, I was thinking about what I might want -- and I never wanted anything that could be purchased before, really, so it was strange. But I was thinking -- I'd like to spend the day with you. Maybe we could go to one of the cities and try a new cafe or something.
Re: text 1/2
none I haven't attempted murder on, anyway

[ That is literally her go-to gift, after all. Everyone loves expensive wine. ]

Bold of you to assume there is anything left. Thank you, however.

Also I could've sworn I heard you huff before demanding everyone to tell you what they want. That's a big part of it.
