Friendly Reminder to Not Be Like Him...

[The feed opens up to reveal Cor in his traveling clothes, sitting near a beach. It's sunrise, and it looks rather lovely....

Except for the fact that Cor himself looks like he's had the snot beaten out of him, bloody bandages and all.]

Just a question - anyone else noticed that all the monsters have grown more aggressive than normal lately? Pretty sure that they're not supposed to be this eager to tear people apart.

If any Natives know if this is a regular occurrence, feel free to let the rest of us know.

[He pauses as he adjusts the bandages around one arm.]

...doesn't feel like it's normal, though...

[The last bit is muttered just as the feed is turned off.]

[That makes Cor blink for a few moments...

And then he starts laughing for a few moments.]

Kid, I'm 45. I'm not that young anymore.

[But then he takes a deep breath...and that humor fades into bittersweet fondness.]

Regis...he's been thru a lot of shit back home that aged him faster than he normally would've. Otherwise, he'd look only five years older than me, if that.

[ Sure doesn't make any lick of sense to him, but Sora nods and blinks all the same. Receptive at least in listening to Cor. Until he struggles to find the sense of what the other just said. 45 was pretty old, to be honest and he can understand Cor probably wants to be called gramps rather than pops. Well, guess he better respond.. ]

[ But then he gets stuck back in his thoughts as he tries to reason what it means to go through a lot of 'shit' that makes someone age faster than they're supposed to. ]

Wait, so like.. he's 50? [ Well, Cor's still younger so.. Regis gets to keep the gramps title. Cor can just have the fish fighter title. ]

Well, so.. why'd he do that then? You're telling me you weren't there to tell him to knock it off?

[There's a flash of pain mixed into the bittersweet look on Cor's face.]

I couldn't. He had to hold up the Wall in order to protect our people. That kind of magic takes a severe toll on someone over time. If it wasn't necessary for him to do that? Yeah, I would've stopped him.

Eh, that sounds really .. complicated. [ He knows that was only the gist of it and that there was likely a whole lot more to that story. ]

So, he's here now.. and he can relax and .. chill, right? I mean, I know we got all this business about fighting and whatever but.. he can leave that to the young folks like me! I'll happily fight for him!

[Cor shakes his head in response to those questions.]

It's...not as simple as that. Yes, he needs his rest. Badly. Yes, he deserves to spend more time with his son. And yes, he does deserve a chance to 'chill', and not worry about being in charge of anything big.

But the tasks that lie ahead of us...even he wants to help accomplish them, in his own way. He's always taken his responsibilities seriously, and finding a way to deal with the threats on the horizon is no different. Once he's rested enough...well, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't at least want to help with the research, much less the strategic planning.

...he might appreciate the help, though - any help.

Well, course he will. I met Regis, he's got a good heart like that. I can tell, sure can.. and especially if he's got a friend like you watching his back!

What we face, we face together, ... I bet.. even when I need strength I can rely on him for it, he's a part of my heart and one of the many reasons I push forward to protect this world. So are you. That's powerful, don't you think?

No doubt about it, he's a good old powerful guy!
