Friendly Reminder to Not Be Like Him...

[The feed opens up to reveal Cor in his traveling clothes, sitting near a beach. It's sunrise, and it looks rather lovely....

Except for the fact that Cor himself looks like he's had the snot beaten out of him, bloody bandages and all.]

Just a question - anyone else noticed that all the monsters have grown more aggressive than normal lately? Pretty sure that they're not supposed to be this eager to tear people apart.

If any Natives know if this is a regular occurrence, feel free to let the rest of us know.

[He pauses as he adjusts the bandages around one arm.]

...doesn't feel like it's normal, though...

[The last bit is muttered just as the feed is turned off.]

[ Regis blinks into the feed, then closes his eyes. ]

Do you need me to come pick you up with a pair of chocobos?

[ Because... right now that's the help he can offer. Perhaps he should pick up a healing job of some description.

And, yes, he will be bringing potions. Sadly, can't make them anymore. ]

[Cor looks a little like a schoolboy who just disappointed his favorite teacher.]

...you're sure about that? I can still walk okay, just not as fast as I'd like...

[ It's not that Regis is disappointed. It's just that he's worried raw, and beyond raw, so every little bit seems like it is too much.

And walking slower and bleeding will make you that much more of a target. Please send me the coordinates.

[ There is... a glint, barely there, of amusement. It will take a while before Regis is anywhere near normal but... he's still there, under all. ]

[ Because he might, and not using them without nudging wouldn't surprise Regis. ]

[Cor does catch that glint of amusement, and it draws out an exasperated little sigh on his end.]

[Still, it provides hope that even if Regis never fully recovers physically, he can still do so in other, equally important ways.]

And I got one left, but I didn't want to use it unless things got really bad.

[But he is, rather slowly, reaching for it - out of old habit of reassuring his friend and...well, Very Important Person, at least.]

Please, do make sure you can stay safe until I get there. I will bring a few more.

[ And he makes a mental note to install a small cupboard for curatives near the chocobos so that, in case of emergency that cannot be addressed with the Regalia, there will be no need to delay further. ]

Was it a case of creatures attacking you when they usually would not, or numbers overwhelming you?

[ Because, well. He does know Cor's proficiency in combat. ]

[Which is true. Cor's focus is always on the battle if there's a threat within his range. But that question makes him grimace a little, even as he works the cap off of the last potion on his person.]

A bit of both, really. Was trying to hunt down a monstrous fish that's said to only become edible under a master chef. It had 'friends', apparently.

[He can see that his Majesty is already on his way to him to pick him up so Ignis focuses on the second troublesome part of this.]

I suppose this puts our estate and houses in jeopardy, especially the chocobos. I will get Ravus and Prompto to survey the area for security reasons.

[Yes, and he may also notice that Cor was talked into taking a potion by said Majesty. Almost like it's a habit between them.] Hard to say. I haven't seen any signs of them coming closer to the farms, but it wouldn't hurt to take a few extra precautions. I'd hate to lose any of the chicks and kittens. [...Six, how many of the former they still have?]

[It's a good thing because Ignis can suggest taking potion but he can't make him take it. At least someone around here can convince Cor otherwise.]

Indeed. If the animals and creatures are growing restless, they might try to hunt down easy prey. Especially the carnivore types.

[And there's no easier prey than helpless chocochiks.]

[And Cor certainly doesn't want those chicks to become some monster's next meal. ~~Cor and~~ Everyone else would be Very Unhappy if that were to happen.]

That's what I don't get. I know that many natives say that the monsters have been slowly growing more violent over the last ten years, but this is a sharper uptake on that than I expected.

This sharp uptake would be worth investigating, especially if the aggressiveness keeps on growing.

[The hunters will then wind up being the hunted.]

...Is it too far of a stretch to assume that recent -events- could be the cause for that?

Agreed, especially if it's not limited to the oceans.

[He thinks about for a few moments, idly adjusting the bandages on his other hand.]

[The thought of animals within the ocean going berserk is terrifying. It is hard to battle in water.]

Then I'll keep an eye out for it.

Also, I will try to come up with some type of traps. I will notify you in case I succeed and put them up.

Any word about Gladio yet?

[Ignis goes silent for a long moment, glad that this is only a call, voice interaction and not a video. Whenever the topic about Gladio is brought up there's a flicker of intense pain over Ignis' face, mixed with guilt.]

...No. Nothing. [...] His Majesty returned after a week or so. Which only leaves us to wait and see if the same will happen now as well...

[Cor cannot see the guilt or pain, no. But he thinks he might be picking up traces of it in the younger man's voice.]

That is...most likely.

Don't waste time beating yourself up over it, though. Instead, focus on what's needing to be done now, until he does come back.

['Hope didn't come back'- Ignis bites that back and beats the thought with a steel pipe into submission and in the back of his head. Gladio will come back, for sure.]

I will be focusing on the traps and checking with Curti Center for the signal. No need to worry about me, Marshal. I'm alright.

And normally, the wildlife will only attack you if you enter their territory or hunt them down for causing trouble to people.
