i have a lot of questions and not a lot of answers and i don't even know where to start looking for them in this place so here it is

who is narayana?

has anyone ever fought a crystal zombie before?

has anyone ever seen crystal pillars destroy the world before?

who on this world responds to "your majesty"?

has anyone figured out why we're here yet and who are the gods of this world?

what happens to people when they die in this world?

i saw some stuff in the dreamwidth and i want answers. i think people who were in crytallis might know since the crazy lady called us "heroes of light."

i died 7 times in ryslig and the last time i ended up here. getting killed is just another tuesday for me at this point.

we died at the end of the vision tho so idk if that was real or not

[Selphie has some of these answers but she wishes that Jade was here to help out because he'd be better at explaining this than she ever could. While she's hesitant to answer these questions, she's going to try anyway.]

[Twenty minutes later and the young blond came strolling down the street. His expression is guarded, but his body language practically screams insecurity with his hands in his pockets, arms held close to his body and shoulders hunched a bit as if to protect his head to some measure from an unseen enemy, all while his eyes dart around the scene to make sure this isn't some sort of ambush.]

Are you Selphie?

[True to her word, Selphie's waiting on the front steps of house B-07 with a Moogle hovering nearby. There's no signs of an ambush coming from the perky brunette as she looks at the boy who is giving off the impression that something happened in the Dream Width while she was lost in her own memories.

That's part of the reason why Selphie's Moogle is in attendance as the girl gives a nod of affirmation to the inquiry. She gives the boy a kind smile before waving for him to come closer.]

That's me.

[She moves over in case he wants to sit down.]

What happened?

[He saw that post.

He saw it but he doesn't respond. Instead, he waits for when Roxas returns. Sitting on his own bed and cleaning the hidden blade he'd gotten from Mary just for something to do while he did. When he hears the door open, he looks up.]

Hey, Roxas.

[ Apparently he wasn't alone in that memory, which makes it weirder! The last time he shared a memory with people, it was... complicated. ]

[For Roxas there is no moogle visibly present, though he knows that's not the truth of the situation. Apparently his moogle liked to sneak around without being seen, even by him, so he just left her be. The nobody paused, eyeing the step before acknowledging the space made for him and sat down. A moment passed where he just looked at Selphie as though he were remembering something about her, but finally he spoke.]

I went out with everyone else to help retrieve people from space, but... somehow I ended up stuck in this vision, I guess. It was like I was someone else, but I could still control everything I did. And it didn't end well.

[It struck Roxas as kinda funny that Takeshi wouldn't just respond to his posts. Back in Ryslig, even Snow and Vanitas had responded despite living with each at various points in time. Well, it didn't matter. It was probably safer this way, all things that happened because of network posts in Ryslig considered.

He dropped a bag on the floor by the foot of his bed as he entered, one that clinked suspiciously like sea shells, and plopped down on the mattress facing his roomie.]

Hey. Sup? What's that? [He motioned to the item in the other's hand, peering at it with mild curiosity.]

["Axe" a question? Was this some sort of Meenah bullshit, but with weapons instead of nautical/ocean terms? Why were people so weird?]

[boomchucka]

[Selphie sees someone who looks like they could use a friendly ear as she nods, oddly quiet as she digests that bit of information.]

And they mentioned Narayana? And a crazy lady.

[There's only one lady that Selphie can peg in with Narayana and the very thought had her blood running cold. She looks at Roxas and tries to stay calm.]

Why would someone mention the Calamity in the Dream Width?

[There was a reason he didn't, and after what happened the last time... he's taking precautions. He remembers what happened last time, and he's a litte concerned with the new little addition to their linkshell.

He remembers his previous targets well.]

Not much. [Takeshi nods to him, retracting the blade back into the bracer and sighs.] It's a hidden blade. A... friend gave it to me, before I woke up here.

[He'd gotten it back a month ago and hasn't removed it except to clean up.]

Saw your post earlier. Figured here would be a better place to talk about it.

[A hidden blade was something the younger had never seen or heard of before, but it sounded super useful, and he looked as though he might want to ask more, but refrained for now. There were other things to talk about.]

I was hoping you might have information, since you were in the last place and all.

[Last place for other people, not Roxas, but he was getting used to referring to the places by their connection to each other and not to him.]

So what can you tell me?

They didn't mention a crazy lady, the crazy lady was there and she mentioned Narayana, like, a lot. Practically worshiped her and said something about eternal life.

[Her question gets an odd look and a shrug.]

I don't really know what you're talking about, but I guess? She probably would have said more but I killed her.

[Selphie frowned at the end result as it was the same one that they had taken to stop the madwoman once and for all. She knew exactly who Roxas was talking about but didn't mention a name.]

To answer your question, Narayana is the other name for the Calamity that slowly turned the world of Crystallis to crystal during its cycle. I was a part of the last group that managed to finally put an end to it once and for all.

Now, let me ask you a question about those zombies.

Were you near a giant tree made of crystal?

[Selphie only knew of one place that had crystal zombies.]

[A full minute passed before he spoke again, but he was clearly thinking hard about what had transpired. The details were a bit of a blur that he needed to pick through, but it was all there.]

Yeah, we were. Kinda. I mean it was way off in the distance but I remember seeing it.

[A small hesitation as he eyed up Selphie, frowning a bit.]

But... we didn't end it. I mean, we didn't save the world. It crumbled and we all died.

I have nothing to contribute to your other questions, but what makes you ask about the "gods" of this world? That seems oddly specific.

I suppose that would be the easiest explanation, wouldn't it? And I'm sure plenty would default to it being divine will of some kind. But I wonder if it's really that simple.

Is that to say you've had this happen to you before? A god plucking you from your world and dropping you into theirs?

As I would expect. Gods tend to have far fewer qualms about those things because there are few who can punish them for it. For what it's worth, I've never met any divinity who wanted to be left alone entirely; even those who simply wish to protect their thralls need those worshippers to sustain themselves and do their bidding.

That's why I find it passing strange; I can't imagine a god would stay silent about an act like this. Another possibility would be that it's something out of the control of gods, an act of nature gone wrong, or the unexpected result of someone else's actions...
