[Today you are all graced with the visage of the Mars marshal, who has finally decided maybe it's time he brings something up here on the network.]

Howdy folks. Name's Sparks Nevada, if we haven't met yet. Before this planet, I was on one called Crystallis. Though before that, I was on Mars, and originally, I'm... from Earth. Thing is, I know a few folks who're from Crystallis that are here, too. It was kind of a similar situation. Y'know, the whole getting dragged outta yer home to be forced to live on another planet with crazy magic and chocobos and all that stuff. The difference there was that we were all considered to be somethin' called "Heroes of Light" and we had to basically save the planet -- the whole multiverse, actually -- from gettin' annihilated. Yer welcome, by the way.

Thing is, there are sure a lotta coincidences on this planet. If the jobs and the races 'a folks and all that ain't enough of a clue, the place names are a dead giveaway. Half of them are named for the Heroes from Crystallis. Even I got one - Sparks Goldsaucia. Pretty cool. Reckon it's all a bit too much to be a coincidence.

Bonnie also brought up the map to me, and... [He looks that over in a separate window.] If ya squint just right, and slide some bits around, sure as heck does look like Crystallis. Durin' that whole apocalypse thing, the planet did get kinda messed up and broken, so I guess we wouldn't have known what the continents looked like after all that. Woulda taken some time to re-map, and I was only there for a month after the whole ordeal was over. Had a planet to get back to marshaling, ya see.

What's my point to all this? Guess my point is that I don't believe in coincidences. The universe is, like, both too big and too small at the same time for that nonsense, if'n that makes any sense at all. It does. I think.

I... sure. Yeah. Just, y'know, kinda hard to see the fun in being kidnapped yet again and thrown on to another new planet with nothin'. Especially when I just know there's gonna be more to it that ain't good.

Do you suppose they could be the same ones? I've chatted with the folks in the Summoner guild. They say the Eidolons here came from the chaos that existed before Vaikuntha was created. There are even some stories about Ramuh being corrupted by that goddess of death mentioned in the creation legend.

If they are the same deities... then they should know all about Crystallis, right?

Job Crystals... [Never heard of 'em.

He hums thoughtfully, trying to piece this together in his head.]

Do you think this is the future then? Hundreds of years, or something...though I don't know how crystals would change into what they have now.

Oh, uh... I have no idea. But I guess it kinda makes sense? I never took up Summoner, but maybe one of the other folks who're from Crystallis here have. They'd be more helpful than me in this case, if they were. But that's really good thinkin' there.

I don't think it's the past, only if because the tech here is way better. I mean, it still is pretty old-fashioned, but it's way better than Crystallis, that's for sure.

I guess we'll see, but you'll forgive me if I continue thinking it's crazy.

... But then again, just being here is crazy enough. So who knows? Either way, it's not my problem.

And for that, I and I'm sure the rest of us newcomers truly appreciate, or will come to appreciate the experience you and the others from Crystallis will bring to the table. We are already learning about what we might be able to expect while here on Vaikuntha, thanks to you; I cannot imagine what it would be like without any of this help. Regardless, that certainly sounds like an ordeal, and if war was one of the results of your expeditions then I am not too surprised that there are so many of us here. I certainly hope we won't have any deaths on our hands, but that may sound like a tall order...

Well. We were told we were gonna create a new world, after all. Like, the Heroes, specifically.

It's weird, since it's so developed already, an' for us it's only been... not that long. But if there's somethin' I've learned from multiple universes, it's that time means nothing.

That's an interesting thing to consider, perhaps this is an event that happens every 2000 years. Records would be hard to keep up with that kind of interval.

Really hoping that the cycle isn't continuing, yeah. Or that a new one hasn't started in the old one's place.

[ People having to sacrifice themselves for something that may or may not have worked... it just doesn't leave her feeling pretty confident. ]

Calamity of the Skies, that some kind of apocalypse type thing?

I mean, I get it. I honestly do. I really wanna think its someone else's problem. But if the world starts to come to an end, and then tries to take all of our home planets with it too? Then ya might have to start caring.

Yeah, kind of, in the form of this big weird monster thing. Kind of hard to explain. All this stuff if kind of hard to explain, honestly.

Yeah, the thing that'll worry me now if it starts happening, is if people start turning to crystal. Cuz that was a thing that happened. Sometimes people snapped out of it, but mostly they didn't. Kept them in a ward in the hospital just in case they did, though.

Okay, so like, back on Crystallis, wasn't there a group of Heroes brought in way way before us? Like, 2000 years previous? Do ya think it's been 2000 years and this stuff is startin' all over again?

[Oh god please no]

Especially if the world gets wrecked right when that 2000 years starts.

Man. This... This is soundin' pretty likely, huh?

I don't think there's a lot we can do about it, other than be mentally ready, I guess. Maybe start, like, stockpiling food.

[Reno hadn't thought of that and he hesitated uncomfortably.]

I really hope not.

Do you remember what happened to those other Heroes, the ones before us?

( Rikku nods with a shrug. She feels that, which is why she is so desperate to look for fun. More than usual, anyway. )

[Sparks huffs, trying to remember. It's difficult.]

We did a whole lot of time travellin', didn't we. Alternate futures 'n histories and dreams and all that stuff... Reckon I wasn;t one of those who had the 2000 years in the past dream, so ya might have to see if someone else here did. But uh, if I recall correctly, I don't think it went super well.

I'm working on learning the Eidolon language, so with any luck we'll be able to just ask them directly. Maybe they'll have some inkling why you Crystallis veterans are being brought back for round two.

There's a lot to explain. Lots of weird things happening with crystals, people called Avatars, things called Weapons, an empire, a king of the moogles, traveling to pasts and futures and alternate timelines and all kind of crazy stuff. It's a lot to handle over text.

I feel like me and the other Crystyallis veterans should just get everyone together and tell the whole story at once. Over drinks. I'll definitely need a few of those while going over this stuff.

Let me know if it works. I definitely will have some questions for 'em.

[ She sighs, a little disappointed. ]

[Reno massaged his temples, trying to remember as well. He wasn't there either, but he'd heard about it.]

I think... I think we were those Heroes. I mean, the ones who went back. There was some kinda crisis then, too, and they met Kalki. But was that thousands or was that another time in the past...? Gods, it was so convoluted. But somehow or other, I think we accidentally screwed stuff up with Kalki 'cause there was that accident, an' that's when we found out about Palitutu...

But it couldn't have been that early since Palitutu and Queen Sarah were still alive.

... [He paused ruefully.] I wish Jack were still around. He was way better at the whole time-shifting thing.

I don't have a lot of love for earth, but there's still some things I need to accomplish before I leave this mortal world, and I guess that requires it not blowing up or anything.
