I want to start by taking a moment to apologize. Normally, I'd make an effort to get to know everyone and I wanted to respond to more people on the network, but when we all arrived from the Dream Width, something pretty important to me didn't make it through. Biggs and Wedge managed to find it recently - thanks again by the way. Still, that doesn't excuse my behavior to some people so... I'm sorry about that.

[He nodded his head once and allowed for a beat of silence in which he rubbed the back of his head before recomposing himself]

Anyway, my name's Adrien and I'm from Paris, France on Earth. Until recently, I was homeschooled and I still have a lot to learn when it comes to socializing outside of a fundraiser or a show. Aside from that, I've been tutored in other subjects like Chinese, piano, and fencing, the last I've applied to my asterisk. If you guys ever need a Swordmaster or Ninja, I'm totally up for lending a hand.

Well... I tried reasoning with him. After all, he still tried to throw me a birthday party after being turned. I might've been stuck in a bubble for a bit.

Wait so were you in a bubble at your own birthday party? [ And then Hunk's eyes grow huge. ] Or did you get to go up into space, too?

[ If so, it might mean that Adrien would be the youngest human to go into space. That'd be awesome, and the idea of it give Hunk a bit of a grin. ]

[ That sure makes it sound like everything turned out okay, which keeps Hunk's spirits lifted. Happy endings are always good. ]

What was the present? [ And he looks perplexed, as if he's trying to guess. ] Was it a book? [ Adrien likes books, right? ]

[He liked books, but it actually wasn't that.]

Actually, it was a handmade scarf. Considering he got me a pen for the last three years, I was surprised he took the time to make it.

A pen? [ And Hunk's demeanor shifts, a little offended. ] Did it at least do something cool, like shoot lasers?

[ He knows it doesn't. The handmade scarf seems nice, but the idea of birthdays and heartfelt presents from family starts to weigh on him. So Hunk sighs, frowning. ]

I just realized I... don't know if I missed my birthday.

No. He doesn’t do cool gifts like that.

[His father was the embodiment of stick in the mud. However, that thought is pushed aside at the idea of Hunk missing his birthday.]

We should have a party in case then.

We could... [ He brings a hand to his chin, thinking on it. ] But I dunno, I wanna be sure. I'd need to figure out how long I spent in space, convert their timekeeping to Earth's, and figure out how long it's been since we left. And I could make some guesses, but...

[ The fact that Adrien even wants to have a party based on speculative timespace, just in case, is heartwarming though. It even gives Hunk a bit of a smile. ] I don't really need a reason to bake a cake, do I? [ The smile grows a little bigger. ]

I mean, if you wanna do that... [Adrien's not going to stop him. In fact, he might help. However, he grins back at the mention of cake.]

Did you ever need a reason before?

I mean in space, we didn't have the ingredients for cakes. [ He sounds very gloomy as he says this. ] But now...

[ His eyes light up, and he starts grinning like a maniac. ] I can bake a cake whenever I want! Oh man, this is great, what kind should I make first?!

[ He's half asking the question into the void, half expecting Adrien to respond. This is the burden of true freedom. ]

... I guess those would be hard to come by. [He didn't even consider...]

[His eyes grow too.] I don't know. Ah, what about a sponge cake?

[That's a cake, right?]

Okay, yeah, a sponge cake. [ He nods, smiling at his iMog Slate. With how animated Hunk's become, this might be the most excited he's been in a while. ]

What flavor sponge cake? Vanilla? Chocolate? Or- [ He gasps! ] Red velvet?! Oh, and then there's still icing and toppings and- [ Hunk barely manages to pull himself out of the Elemental Plane of Cakes, and raises an eyebrow at Adrien. ]

What do you think? [ This is your fault, Adrien. You get to make the big choices, he's just the executor of your whims. He's gonna bake a cake!!! ]

[Gosh, Hunk has really found his calling right now.]

Oh those all sound good...

[Adrien now has to think about it more too.] ... You know, this place has some weird fruits to try. How about trying to top it with those? Though, we might need to make all the flavors to find out what's good with what toppings...

Might? [ Hunk levels his gaze at Adrien, and he's got a cocky little grin. ] No, we're definitely gonna have to make a bunch of smaller cakes to see what works.

Should we make cakes or just get the supplies and figure out what goes together first? [ He's running the numbers already, trying to figure out just how to optimize the venture. But this is partially Adrien's idea, that much is undeniable, so he definitely gets to help make the decisions! Hunk's just glad to be getting back into the kitchen. ] There might be some trial and error, but I'm a Gourmand. This is what we do.

[Well, he hadn't been sure if Hunk was up for making more than one cake, but sounds like he's totally ready for it. He grins.]

Don't know until you try, right? Let's make cakes!

Let's do it! [ He bellows the words out, disregarding the fact that he just shouted at the iMog Slate. It's fine. This is fine. They're going to make a zillion cakes! He cannot contain his excitement anymore. In fact... ]

I... don't think I can wait for this. I'm gonna run out to the market and see what I can get. Any last minute suggestions, Adrien?

[ And he just stares expectantly at the screen. Maybe there's some weird Parisian Snail Cake or something? ]

[Hey, if anyone else hears him, it's only Adrien getting leered at. Whoops.]

Suggestions? Uh... I don't know?

[He knows they might've stared at the pastries, but... suggestions? Again, nothing coming from the top.]

[ The smile just grows. This is fine, Hunk can work with this. So he just nods. ] Well, if you do come up with anything, just text it to me!

I'm gonna go and uh... and get workin' on this. Right now. [ And then Hunk starts to laugh just a little maniacally before the call abruptly ends. See, he's a man of clear priorities, and Vaikunthan Cake Experiments hits all of those boxes.
