A question. I’ve been limited in my Asterisk choices because they are designed for humanoid bodies. But the passive ability in my Custom Asterisk should rectify that soon.

Suddenly I have many more choices. I would be interested in the opinions of others on Asterisks for someone used to being a wizard. And unused to being human-shaped, but capable of doing so.

I know, it's bad timing to say so right before a long journey, but it will give me time to think.

By "capable of being human shaped", do you refer to the ability to send a digital and solid avatar mimicking human appearance? I closer to human-shaped than you, but my advice may not be relevant depending for what you are looking.

No, I mean physical shape-changing. It's not a common element among wizards, but I have a closer connection to another species -- in this case, humanity -- than most wizards. I've tested it while creating my Asterisk, but I haven't used it all that often back home. Typically, I either met with land species at the coast, or in wizard-only spaces where I could just use life-support wizardries.

I do not change my original shape as you do. Rather, all Cybertronians have an alternate mode that strays farther from the typical human design.

I too carry a Custom Job that provides a different body to me, but I select my other Job that supports those abilities. I grow stronger and bulkier, so heavily-armored Jobs are favorable.

The reasoning is sound, even if we start with different assumptions as to our altered states: look for Jobs that work with our own abilities.

Did you have trouble adapting to a different body, or did experiences with an alternate mode help?

It’s different. The Magnus Armor gives me an entire different root mode and alt mode, while the alt mode is an extension of any Cybertronian. I had months to acclimate to a larger frame, but otherwise it same of a simile shape.

I can’t think of an instance where I had to engage in combat and use my regular skills while as a hauler.

That's what I'm considering. Whales don't use weapons; we use our bodies, or those of us who are wizards use wizardry. Humans rely primarily on tools to fight.

I could suggest taking the Monk asterisk, but you had stated working as a wizard. What if a healing class?
