Looking For Group, PST - Open
[Once Nanamo had figured out the Mognet, it was childsplay. And the alphabet was close enough to her own that it was easy to write.
Mind you, it wasn't perfect, but she sent a message to the general public. In the way she knew how.]
LFG 2 Tutors in the sword and magical affairs. Must be competent healer and red mage. Teaching how to backflip is a must.
I am in need of a tutor in the martial ways. My dear friends from home are doing their best, but I could use a secondary assistance to the problem.
Required: Skill with the blade
Required: Skilled with curative magics and/or casting of them
Compensation will be discussed upon arranging a tutor.
Sincerely, Her Grace,
Nanamo Ul Namo
[There we go now to hit send.]

Re: video
[There's a soft, amused smile there.]
But I will be willing to learn whatever you can teach me.

As for the healing thing... question! Does "going out and getting myself incidentally sliced up" count as practice?
[She sounds like she's being sarcastic. She... may not actually be being sarcastic.]
no subject
[She's grinning but, she blinks.]
Are you certain? I realize it might be a good method to train, but perhaps it is a little... fast?
no subject
[Sometimes nothing toughens up people like a good dose of reality, but at the same time... it's Nanamo. She is not a trophy to be protected by others, but... Nanamo.
What a dilemma.]
I suppose that depends whether you want to learn the hard way or the easy way, right?
no subject
So the hard way is fine. It would not be much experience in the field if I did not acclimate to the nature of battle.
no subject
Are you sure? Sometimes I, uh... take things a little far...

While I do not have any particular skill in either of those talents.
I do know a few things about reading fights if that may be of use?
Re: Text
Reading a fight? As in reading the movements of the opponent?
I would be most interested in learning such a skill.
Text --> Private Video
This is better demonstrated.
[She switches it over to video. Since she's not completely sure who else may be watching she also switches it over to private. Sure, she's probably being a little paranoid, but who knows who else might be interested in how she fights?]
[She pulls a hand away from the camera as she switches the iMog. A pair of red eyes appear on the screen before pulling away. She casually saunters further away from view so that most of her upper body is visible.]
How's that? Can you see me?
Re: Text --> Private Video
[She's wondering how this works, considering everything.]

There is no exact science to fighting. But there are tips that you should know. The first is to pay attention to an opponent's eyes. Make sure you notice where they are going as that can lead to where they are attacking and what they are focusing on. [As though to demonstrate this, Makoto tries to focus on Nanamo's nose before lowering it to where her chest would be.]
Next, be aware of what they can attack with and how they attack. Fists, swords, ranged attacks and spells all have different requirements in positioning and style. Identify your threats and know how your opponent can use them against you.

Am I getting warm?
no subject
I can only provide you with some basic guidance in that, Namo-chan. A lot of that you have to learn through experience.
no subject
no subject
Once you have determined that attempt to determine the best course of action and strike.
no subject
no subject
Right, which makes me think that entering combat may be more dangerous for you than it would most others.
[Buuuut... if she wanted then that probably woudln't deter her.] You could also use your size to your advantage, however.
no subject
[She nodded.] Lalafell can jump the height of a average man, and even my own jumping prowess is excellent. I could use that to my advantage.
no subject
And that is a good strategy. By making yourself small and quick, you may find yourself being the challenge of enemies larger than you. You can also be quite dangerous if you duck under the effective range of an enemy's attacks.
However there are also sweeping attacks and larger attacks that use their own mass against you. It would not do if you avoid a kick only to end the cushion of a rather clever giant, as an example.
Have you had much reason to fight, Ul Namo-san?
no subject
Nay, not as much. Which is why I wish to learn, to naught be a burden upon the land.
no subject
Didn't you mention that you were royalty?
With all due respect, I wouldn't think that would be something that you would need to concern yourself with.

[But no sooner does she say that does she begin to doubt whether she has the right to ask Nanamo something like that. Regret quickly follows. Surely she had already considered the consequences.]
no subject
I am no longer a child to be coddled. While my exuberance might be mistaken for recklessness, I have no doubt that learning the martial manner of how this world survives is crucial in learning how to become a stronger leader. I cannot sit by when people are in need of aid.
no subject
You've thought a lot about this, haven't you Ul Nam-sa...
Ul Namo-sama.
no subject
The new me, the one tempered by time and experience tells me that learning new skills in order to further my abilities as a young ruler would be key in learning how to become a good ruler.
And please, call me Nanamo. T'would be ideal in such a situation we are in.
no subject
I agree, but I would also suggest that you maintain the utmost caution. Real combat is not the same as sparring. Real combat is brutal, painful, and alarming. You will see your friends hurt and will bear witness to a frame of mind that would see the elimination of opponents.
I do not question your convictions or the merit of your goals. I speak only of my experiences and wish to convey to you the severity of what you are aspiring to do.

no subject
Well, I might have been hoping to prepare you a little too.
I'm glad to hear it was not necessary.

[And she totally understands, though she wasn't about to start talking about that experience.]
...we'll just have to make sure that something like that never happens again.
no subject
[Cause no one wants a round two with poison. No one.]
no subject
[Which is a bit of a trick. She didn't know what it was, but found that to be an excellent way to cover for her lack of knowledge.]

Yes, that is a very useful skill to have. Even a carefully made plan can be completely ineffectual when one person is afflicted with a negative status.
[And giving the matter some thought.] You may be right on the lack of healers. I used to be one, but the rules of this world did not allow me to have that power and keep my normal way of fighting.
Though eventually there may be ways around that.
no subject
We will have to ensure then that whoever we party with will have means of sustaining themselves, as well as our own healing ability supplementing it.
no subject
Nanamo, I have a thought. Have you ever had the opportunity to work with another group as a party?
[Given her position, Makoto suspects not. Still, there may be a reason to in her world...?]

If it is alright with you, I would not mind offering my services in this regard. I have had a few experiences in dungeons and am not too bad at a fight. While I may not be able to offer you much in your magic, I could do my best to make sure you are safe.

Though keeping our faces away from the mud is setting the bar quite low, I will do my best to make sure that does not happen.
