Greetings.

While I've been getting wizard training at the wizard school - which, wow, I never expected to say that - I've been thinking about something lately. Really, it's kind of been on my mind since I got here and talked to some people.

I'm curious. How many of your worlds have magic? What's magic like there? Is it the same here in any way?

How are people who use magic treated where you're from?

Only monsters use magic where I'm from, though monsters where I'm from aren't like the monsters here.

Basically this is scientific curiosity. Or magic curiosity, I guess.

Magic? Wow, that's... I'm not entirely sure with where I live. I guess it depends from place to place for me.

i think it definitely does exist where i'm from, but it's mega super rare, and like 99.9% of people don't know anything about it

My homeworld has magic, and in a superficial manner, very similar to the magic on Vaikuntha. But here, magic feels more... artificial, I suppose. While technology seems much more advanced here, I have yet to meet anyone native to this realm that was born with magical abilities. It seems to me that anyone that wants to cast a spell must obtain an asterisk and join a guild first.

Magic is organic in my world, however. I, for example, was born with the innate ability to use it. It was quite the shock when I first arrived here.

I hope this answers your question.

We had magic... Sorta. It was nothin' like the kinda stuff you see here with fire and lightning or anything like that.

Wasn't really the sorta stuff I was any good with, either. Magic was really more of a Felineko thing.

Magic's an energy source where I come from. Kind of helped solve a few global crises awhile back. Helped cause a few, too. I wouldn't say it's the same as here, but it's not too dissimilar. I don't use it, personally.

I don't even use a spellphone back home, but it's pretty much completely impossible to avoid magic completely back home. Even here, the monsters have a magical nature to them.

Magic does exist in my world and in the beginning, everything lived in one realm. The problem was interactions between humanity and things considered fantastical, supernatural, and mythical escalated into a hot mess and that's putting it lightly.

So now my world is split into two realms. One realm is for the humans and other non-magical creatures, while the other is where gods, supernatural beings, and souls waiting to be reborn reside. Humans with special abilities do exist but even that number is dwindling.

Elemental magic like this world's does exist but I never had a knack for it. We do have another thing that could be considered magic, I guess. Except not many people are able to tap into it because it does involve a lot of training to unlock it.

I suppose that's also an interesting facet. Though magic is natural in my world, there are peoples and cultures that are wary of it as well, and those like me will actively hide their talents.

But yes, in a way, you're right. I have yet to see a passer-by throw a dirty glance at a Mage's Guild, or look at anyone with a Job with a dirty glance. For a world where magic is so manufactured, they certainly treat it like it's natural.

It was...

[He blinked. He'd only seen it used in the raw a couple times, but it felt like there was something far more important he was forgetting-- in fact, he was almost sure of it. He falters for a good few seconds before he gets his train of thought chugging again.]

...it was like this energy that flowed through everything, and they could stop, move, and 'read' it if they really knew what they were doin'. But it's nothing I ever was able to learn.

[Or at least consciously control.]

Well, a mecha is more to-the-point, I guess.

What do you mean? You got a problem with magic?
mech_and_mutt: (Aw come on!)

[personal profile] mech_and_mutt 2018-10-07 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Why does everyone keep describing it like that...?]

No! It's... okay, hold on.

[There's a brief delay as Red books it over to the airship's cargo bay, where he actually turns the iMog's camera around to give a good view of his mecha, the Dahak Mk. III. If anything, Chara could probably place it as something closer in size and function to the ride armor from Muguman Z.]

--There. That's what it is. What is anime, anyway...?

maybe magic, maybe supernatural powers, i don't really know where you draw the line, you know? i know about it because i had them. most people are just human where i'm from, but i'm not. i don't think it's a thing humans can do

Sounds like a problem.

Okay, good-- a lot of people apparently don't.

[Japan, eh? Isn't that where Azusa was from? Maybe that shed some light on how how familiar she seemed to be robots...]

But I do know that whatever it was we called 'magic', humans were the ones usin' it before any of us were. So it's probably not the same as whatever it was in your world.
