To make a long story short, I've been trying to network with local animal shelters in the cities I stop at between shifts. Mostly it's been volunteering in rescues and what not. Can't have a cat cafe/shelter if the cats aren't ready to be adopted after all.

Good luck with that. I'll stop by sometime this week. [Maybe having one more person to socialize them will help?]

Yep. My wife met Takeshi back on Crystallis where they were housemates by chance. One thing led to another and she adopted him. Honestly, our time here is the most time I've had to bond with him since.

[Of course, that wasn't the only thing she brought back from Crystallis but that's a story for another time.]

Now, I had no idea our dear Takeshi had a father. How lucky he is to have one such as you, so gracious and open with affection and pride. Happy birthday, Takeshi, and all the best for the coming year. I know you will continue to make all of us proud. Do try and take some time to celebrate.

Well, I intended to have this sent only to him, but apparently the mognet decided otherwise. Still, thank you. I'll admit, it was a bit of a shock to learn Saori had adopted him, let alone the whole thing that went down in Crystallis.

Still, we should celebrate happier moments when we can.

You know Saori from before Crystallis? I'm well glad that Takeshi still has someone to watch over him, and how fortuitous that both halves of a pair accompany him through these trials. I was not all that well acquainted with Saori, but she seemed like a forthright woman, and a dependable comrade.

Yes, I've known her way before Crystallis. Our relationship was a bit rocky at first but I've never regretted marrying and now having a family with her.

I honestly think Takeshi, Mary, and I would've been down very different paths if we all hadn't met her. She was always the type to support others from the sidelines rather than be the center of attention.
