[One very excited kid is on screen. Possibly "overexcited," given how trivial his concerns are:]

There's so much food to eat here! And it all tastes really good!

And things have smells and my clothes feel soft... This is amazing! Being alive is so amazing! I'm so lucky to be somewhere like this, and all fixed up..! Oh! What are the best foods to eat? Are there things to smell other than flowers and the ocean? Do people have smells? Can I touch things? Is that allowed? What's allowed?

There's so much to do, too. I think I decided to u-um... try being a white mage. But what about the other jobs? What jobs does everyone have? Do any of them involve eating a lot? Are we really allowed to try any job? What if I'm bad at it? Will I lose my friends and home?

I don't really care, but if you want a better use of your senses, slow down and take everything in and actually savor an experience. Don't rush through every possible thing.

Right!!! That's totally right! I-I need to treasure each one! Who knows when I'll go back to being a Kami? Ahh, but what should I start with? Eating? What food? There are so many!

As in, used to live in a shrine, had worshipers type or just the "I was a rock" type?

[His excitement fades in an instant. Shi isn't sure people will like him much if they learn what kind of Kami he was.]

I-I had... believers, um. And I looked like I do now...? But I had limited senses... i-is all. [He was a 'Curse Kami,' and blamed for everyone's problems. People believed they could rid the world of curses if they killed him.]

I'll pay my respects either way... wouldn't want to tally up any more bad luck by pissing off a god.

Huh? Oh, no! I don't give bad luck on purpose, I promise! I mean, it happens, but it's not what I want! I can probably be a nice Kami!

[He squeaks one last time, then shyly speaks up,]

Curse. I'm the Curse Kami... I ruin everything by existing.

Isn't that what rituals and shit like hina matsuri are for? I mean I'm not exactly the most spiritual person but I'm pretty sure Japan's had long enough to know how to deal with a curse god or two.

People indeed have smells, sometimes not very good ones. You can touch things, but it's generally polite to ask permission first. Apparently yes, we can just try any job we want, which makes it difficult to narrow them down. If you're bad at it, just try another, I suppose. But, I am also a white mage! I'm not really into this whole combative thing all the other jobs seem to have going for them.

You're a white mage as well?

I-I um... I'm nice to meet you agai-- wait. It's nice to meet you again!

I don't really know if it suits me, but I want to try it! Are you a healer back home?

Oh, goodness no. I'm not a spellcaster, but it's always found the practice fascinating. So while a lot has changed since I've arrived here, I'm glad at least now I get to try it out for myself! I'm not sure how long I'm going to stick with white mage, but it's working for me for now.

I've never done anything heal-y before, so this is new for me... I hope that I can do it! It would be really nice to be helpful, for once...!

Do they have other magical jobs? Is white mage the only healing one?

Oh, there is definitely more! They have something called a black mage, which is like elemental spellcasting, from what I can tell. And I personally almost went with summoner, which I still think about. Perhaps that will be a future job I take, once I get used to all this casting first. Baby steps.

Those sound really difficult... um. Good luck! I don't know how I can help, but uh... Oh wait. I can learn to heal you, so you can take risks and stuff? Those sound like they require risk taking!

I hope not too much. As long as they're not violent like a lot of the non-magic jobs seem, then I'll be fine with them. But I thank you nonetheless! It's always good to know someone has your back.

W-Well... I wasn't fully human, um... I just didn't have a body that worked very well, that's all. My senses were bad.

Yeah? Well, I'm glad you get to enjoy all this stuff now. Go on, have some fun with it. What about hearing?

Y-Yeah, I think I will try.

Hearing was okay. Hearing ans seeing were always fine. We can watch the world like a TV program, but that's it.

Then eat up! Get a... massage?

But massages are such a luxury..! Only really important people get those, right?

Important people like middle class soccer moms yeah, sure.

For real though just like. Get a friend to do it? I guess?

[ Oh look, a new person Hunk hasn't met yet! That's why when the feed flickers on, the Paladin-turned Gourmand is grinning ear to ear and wearing his combat apron. ]

Different people like different foods... and smells, too! Like if food burns a little bit, some people are a fan of that. Some aren't! Uhh... [ He trails off a bit, trying to remember all the topics the excited kid covered. There were a lot. ] Don't touch monsters, that's a good way to get hurt, even if you're a White Mage and can heal people!

One of my favorite jobs is Magitek Knight. [ He's grinning more, and now his enthusiasm is matching Shi's. ] It has heavy armor and a sword that shoots bullets and lasers! It's cool.

But my favorite one is Gourmand! It's all about cooking and eating food to help your friends. [ And he looks proud. ] But which jobs you wanna use depend on what you wanna do in a fight!

...What do you wanna do?

I don't know if I'd be any good at that right now, b-but...

[Shi looks a bit shy,] I do hope I can do something to help people. E-Even if I don't have any friends beside my Moogle.

All of the jobs can help people! But since you have so many questions, a job called Scholar is all about learning things to help your friends! [ But then it registers that the kid doesn't have any friends aside from his moogle. ]

We can be friends, if you want! [ Take a thumbs-up! ] My name's Hunk! What's yours, friend? [ See? Making friends is easy! ]

[Friend... The word echos in his mind, to an almost comical degree.

Then something in Shi clicks. He goes from being shy to kind of giddy.]

I-I'm Shi! Yamato! It's nice to meet you, Hunk! [He beams. It may almost sound like this kid rehearses his introductions in a mirror. Just in case!]

There are so many ways to be helpful here. It's amazing! I used to dream of this stuff when I was smaller!

[ Oh no, he might've rehearsed this, how adorable. At least he's smiling!! ]

Well, Shi, what's the coolest part about those dreams? [ Hunk's not gonna ruin the mood by saying "because it probably involves horrible monsters," but. Y'know. It probably does. ] Whatever it is, you can probably do it here!
