The Disappearance of Azusa Miura: Network Post [Voice] (Fwd Dated to the 7th)

[The morning of July 7th, everyone’s slates receive an audio message. At first, there’s only static and the sound of someone tapping the screen as if they’re trying to turn on video but are unable to. There’s a gentle sigh of frustration followed by a gasp as the owner realizes it’s on.]

Ah...! Hello? Hello? This is Azusa...that’s to say, I’m Azusa, um...I don’t know how long I have, ever since I dropped this in the water on the way over.

[The voice is a little hard to hear, but that should explain it: water damage.]

I haven’t seen anyone in a long time...I was trying to reunite a lost child with her mother, but we ended up finding her on an airship...and then her father was on a fishing boat...and I’m not sure where I am anymore. Goodness, what am I going to do?

[She taps the screen again, trying to turn on video, but there’s no luck here.]

I’m not far from the beach, but...it’s too late at night for me to be watching for ships. And...there’s really no one here, is there? What am I...

[And with one last, loud bust of static, the message ends.

But it sounds like you've had an eventful time, to say the least. Just where did you end up?

I never intended to worry anyone...but things got out of hand very quickly, it feels like.

[Especially considering her next answer.]

I ended up on a boat, but they weren't too happy to have an extra passenger, so they left me on the beach in a very dusty sea.

So they just left you stranded out there? Talk about harsh! And after all the trouble you went through!

...At any rate, I'm very relieved you didn't bite the dust.

I tried to explain the situation, but since I was a stowaway...

[She sighs, nodding in appreciation at such a fine joke.]

Yes, I'm glad I didn't have to spend any more time out there, but I'm afraid I'm going to have dust in my hair for weeks. I feel like I'm always finding more.

Well, that sounds simply dreadful. Have you tried washing it yet?

I've washed my hair three times already, but just when I think it's clean I find another grain.

[She's not an unclean person! Really!]

I'd be fine with never heading back.

Hmm... The dust is probably just getting trapped under the wet hair like that. That's no good.

Maybe try combing it thoroughly once it's dry? There's also the option of vacuuming out the dust, but that can be tricky with long hair.

Mm...I've done all of that and more. It feels like someone dumped glitter on me. I feel like it's going to pop up where I least expect it...if not in my hair, in my bag or somewhere else.

[She sounds a little disappointed, but she's given up.]

Oof, that's unfortunate. Well, I expect it'll all eventually fall out as time goes by. [A pause.] The dust, I mean. Not your hair.
