The people at the Curti Center said I needed a job to earn currency if I wanted to live in a city and not have to catch my own food. That... well, it's not a thing we do back home -- we-whales, not we-all people. Usually we just hunt as we swim, and pursue whatever our vocations are, and no one worries about having a fixed patch of ocean for one's self. I have some friends who are human, but they were considered too young to have jobs, so I only heard about what their parents did.
I'm working as a tour guide in Ka'pandol. Do you have any advice, if you've had a job?

I think what you're doing here is a start, really - letting people know that the tours that you're guiding are available is good. The more people know, the more people will want to do that - and the less you won't have things to do.
Until then - hmm. Practice things you have learned, if anything is appropriate for where your location is appropriate? Or going through things you have memorized - sometimes, it's good to refresh it. Do any of these sound like they might work?

As you are on the network, I am assuming you have a moogle assigned, as well. Perhaps conversing with them can pass some of the hours, as well? Finding out what's of interest to the locals - even if some is inaccessible, there may be stories.

Still! The point stands, you can talk about this world and find all sorts of interesting things, I'm sure.

Would the Sea here remember? If it does, then you can do that - and, if you wish, I can make dry-land copies of your notes to be stored at some places around the world, for those who might not think to ask the Sea.
[ He's making an awful lot of guesses, but preserving information is... very important, really. ]
