[Newt can't help but frown as he listens to the story, a thoughtful one but a frown nonetheless. It's..not surprising to hear that beings of any magical nature were seen as something to be feared. Sad, but not surprising.]

Fear of what one does not understands seems to be a common occurrence across universes unfortunately.

[People hunt beasts here just as they do back in his world, for example.]

Humans are a species that build their society on fear, at least from what I've observed. Not all of them. There are those that stand out and are just as open minded as those of us aware of the magical aspects of the world. [Like Jacob.] But fear of the unknown drives them to be very harsh in their judgement unfortunately.
